School life students

After spending 5 years in our school, we have noticed that with each year, the amount of students and teachers interested in anime, k-pop and chinese culture has steadily increased. That is why for our CAS project, we, the members of the “NISA Anime club”, in collaboration with the “7SPIRIT” k-pop group and the Japanese Culture Club, decided to celebrate the growing interest in East Asian Cultures on September 23rd of 2019. After thorough preparation and numerous rehearsals, we were able to organize the first “East Asian Culture Festival” in NISN history.

Our event included all of the aspects that, in our opinion, attract people in Japanese, Korean and Chinese cultures:

During our lunch break, we sold handmade dishes from Chinese, Korean and Japanese cuisines

• Our charity fair also included various books in Japanese, as well as a classic kazakh story translated into Japanese
• Most of the event initiators honored these great cultures by trying on some of their traditional clothing, such as yukatas, kimonos, etc.
• We hosted a concert/trivia game after the lessons, that included questions regarding the unique aspects of all these cultures, as well as several dance routines by popular korean idol groups, performed by our 8th grade students: Davletova Aida 9F, Abildinova Meruyert 8C, Shagibay Inkara 8C, Bektursun Ayaulym 8E, Jardemova Azhar 8G, Malik Malika 8H, Zhibek.
• One day before the event, unique East Asian style decorations were installed to introduce our audience with the hieroglyphs, symbolic elements and colors of each of the countries
• In addition to these decorations, a remix of popular songs from East Asian Countries, as well as their traditional music, played during the breaks

 Our goal was to inspire our students to continue this tradition after our graduation. We want to see how the students in our school share their love towards various cultures in an interesting and entertaining atmosphere. We also wanted to create a setting where students interested in asian culture could share information with each other, which would allow both parties develop and widen their world view. Through our cosplays, we wanted to make our event a bit less formal. Using our event as an example, we hope that students were inspired to organize their own, unique and somewhat “crazy” event.

The idea that an event like ours can combine charity work, a personal interest towards these three countries, their diverse cuisines, and music, shows that nothing is impossible, and that each and every one of us is free to dream and act.

All of the revenue from our charity fair, as well as ticket sales have been donated to “Asenka”, a local animal shelter, to help our four-legged friends.
