  2. Students must adhere to school deadlines for internal assessments, whether the reason is valid or not. Failure to complete the internal assessment on time leads to the inability to obtain an IB diploma.
    1. To conduct external moderation, the School teachers prepare preliminary evaluated electronic versions of students' work for sending them to the IB. The teacher explains his preliminary grade in detail. Preliminary grades are not shared with students.
    2. After moderation, when displaying the final grade, the IB may adjust the assessment of the internal assessment both upward and downward.
    3. The final number of points for internal assessment is determined by the IB.
    4. In September of the current academic year, the DP coordinator registers students at the ISIB for the external assessment exams. Students can be registered to pass all exams in subjects and receive the IB diploma, or to take exams in individual subjects to receive a document with the results of the IB course.
    5. External assessment takes the form of an exam in all subjects at the highest and standard levels and in the TOK subject.
    6. The IB determines and sends to the School the schedule and instructions for subject exams.
    7. External assessment materials are sent to the School two weeks before the start of the exam. The DP Coordinator is responsible for the safety and storage of the materials and stores them in a secure room that must meet the IB's requirements for The responsibilities of IB World Schools in ensuring the integrity of IB assessments.
    8. Upon completion of the exams, all materials are packaged and sent to the IB via the postal service. Students' examination papers are evaluated by experts from the IB.
    9. The results of external assessment are provided to the school through  IBIS no later than July 6 of the corresponding academic year. The school officially receives IB diplomas for students in September after they graduate from school.
    10. The IB offers a request process for external assessments as well as moderation of internal assessments for a fee. The process is organized by the IB Assessment Center. The school submits a written request for revision or reevaluation.
    11. The IB Grading Center reviews or re-evaluates the student's work. If the request is to re-evaluate the work, the candidate's grade can be either increased or decreased. All requests for results requests must be submitted by the school on behalf of the candidate after graduation.
    12. The principal of the school approves the list of results requests and instructs the school's lawyer to draw up agreements with the students. After that, the DP coordinator submits requests for results in IB.

14. High School Program External Assessment (DP) Request Process

15. Circumstances beyond the control of the parties (article 18 of the document of the IB "General provisions of DP")

114. Circumstances beyond the control of the parties are considered to be those cases that are beyond the control of the candidate that may damage his or her assessment, including severe stress, extremely difficult family circumstances, loss (death of a loved one) or events that may threaten health or safety candidates. This refers to circumstances that may affect a group of candidates or all candidates in a school. Adverse circumstances do not include:

1) deficiencies on the part of the school in which the candidate is registered, including errors or negligence of the school regarding the registration of candidates, the timeliness of requests for special needs during the assessment or consideration of adverse circumstances, the implementation of authorized comprehensive assessment procedures and requests for renewal of assessment in accordance with section 115 ;

2) the inability of candidates to improve their performance despite receiving an authorized inclusive assessment procedure.

  1. If a candidate or a group of candidates is exposed to circumstances beyond the control of the parties prior to submission of the components, which must be submitted earlier than others (for example, ER, TOK, internal assessment, extended essay, theory of knowledge or internal assessment / sampling), extension of the term filing may be authorized by the IB after receiving the required documentation (available in the manual) from the school. The renewal must be officially approved by MB and is the only possible solution that can be offered.
  1. Any application for special consideration of circumstances beyond the control of the parties must be submitted to the IB by the school DP coordinator on behalf of the candidate (s). The application must be received within 10 calendar days after the completion of the IB external assessment of the component of the relevant subject and must be supported by a statement written by the DP coordinator and appropriate evidence.
  2. If the IB recognizes that unfavorable circumstances influenced the performance of the candidate's work, the IB may, at its discretion, pay special attention to this circumstance, provided that this does not give the student an advantage over other candidates. If the circumstances of the candidate are considered “beyond the control of the parties” and require special consideration, an adjustment will be made to the candidate's IB external assessment mark in relation to the relevant subject (s) and / or requirements of the IB diploma. If a student lacks one or two points to the next level, then the IB adds those missing points in the relevant subject (s); in the case of the theory of knowledge and extended essays, one notch from the next higher level is required to adjust the grade. This is the only possible solution for candidates in the event of adverse circumstances.

16 . The order of consideration of "incomplete assessment" (paragraph 19 of the document IB "General provisions of DP")   .

  1. “Incomplete Assessment” means that a candidate has not submitted one or more of the components required for assessment in a subject.
  2. Any application for special consideration in case of incomplete assessment must be submitted to the MB by the school DP coordinator on behalf of the applicant. The application must be received within 10 calendar days after the completion of the final grade component of the relevant subject and must be supported by a statement written by the DP coordinator including relevant evidence.
  3. In case of incomplete assessment of a subject, the IB may, at its discretion, award a grade in the subject if both of the following circumstances are established:

1) the reason given by the school for the incomplete assessment is outside the control of the candidate, for example, illness or injury, death or funeral of a close relative, imminent hospital or court visits;

2) the candidate has submitted a sufficient number of works in which it is possible to receive at least 50% of the points from all possible points in this subject, including the external assessment component.

  1. If both of the above conditions are met, a score for the missing component will be calculated using the established procedure and based on the candidate's scores for the completed components, and for the distribution of the scores of other candidates in the same subject. In the event that more than one exam is missed, it will be assessed at the discretion of the Final Award Committee whether it is possible to assign grades to candidates in the respective subjects. The determination of the score for the missing component by statistical means and by “consideration” (as described in paragraph 117 of this Rule) will not apply to the same subject / level as being scored.
  2. Grounds for incomplete assessment, such as forced school closure during written exams, may affect a group of candidates or all candidates in a school. In the event that more than one candidate is involved, the Final Award Committee will give equal consideration to all candidates.
  3. If a student missed the exam for a valid or disreputable reason, then he is not allowed to take the exam at another time of the current examination session.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) approves the following requirements for determining the criteria for the final level of achievement:

“To determine the final level of achievement for each criterion for each student, at the end of the period or at the end of the year, teachers must gather sufficient evidence from a set of assessment objectives to enable them to build professional and informed judgment. All topics include final assignments that are assessed against one or more of the Basic School criteria to provide continuous assessment and feedback on student performance on Basic School objectives. The planning of topics and assignments should ensure that all criteria are used for a specified time, providing balanced evidence sufficient to determine the final level of achievement ”Source: From principles to practice published by the IB in 2014.

In the example above:

The sum of the level of achievement of the criteria is 22 (6+4+7+5=22)

1)    In case of insufficient language competence of the offered languages A, students studying on a paid basis have the opportunity to “independently learn” language and literature A, according to the requirements of self-study courses prescribed by the International Baccalaureate.

2) A student who chooses English A language and literature in the first group cannot choose English B in the second group. The student must choose the second course in the 1st group, either Kazakh or Russian. IB accepts a second language from the 1st group instead of the language from the 2nd group.

3) In case of insufficient language competence of the Kazakh and Russian languages among students who study on a paid basis, they have the opportunity to take online courses in other languages (subject to the provision of payment for the course by the student's family).

4) NIS Astana city was developed and approved by IB. IB provides external assessment (in Kazakh).

5) Information technology in a global society is a subject from the 3rd group of IB.

Since universities do not always consider this subject to be sufficient to cover the Humanities requirements, students must select one subject from the Personal and Society group. Accordingly, in NIS Astana, this item can only be taken as an item of the 6th group.

6) Computer science belongs to the 4th subject group of the IB. Since universities do not always consider this subject to be sufficient to cover the Humanities requirements, students must select one subject from the Personal and Society group. Accordingly, in NIS Astana, this item can only be taken as an item of the 6th group.

If a student does not choose the following subjects in DP, then he should study them as a separate course as a national component: Kazakhstan in the modern world, Kazakh language, Russian language.
